John was born in 1948, and attended Miami-Dade Community College from 1967 to 1969. He attended Florida Bible College from 1984 to 1986. He became an elder of New Hope in 1986, and was ordained in November of 1988. He and his wife Jacquie have served as faithful leaders at New Hope for over 30 years. John has served in the United States Army, and has had a career as an airline pilot. In addition to serving as the Associate Pastor since 1988, John was also the interim pastor from 2015 to 2017. He has three sons, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
